Building a Karachi wedding order
Karachi weddings tend to have long distribution lists spread across a wide city, and the order usually breaks into tiers rather than a single quantity.
Rishta and mangni. A handful of arrangements that will be examined carefully by people forming a first impression. Our Elegance and Celebration series exist for exactly this, and the barfi truffles — chocolate, salted caramel, bounty — have become a common choice where families want something less expected alongside the traditional pieces.
The main distribution. Mix Mithai in varying box sizes: barfi, motichoor and besan ladoo, kaju katli, malai peda, chum chum, gulab jamun. Our Dehli Barfi — pineapple, coconut and pistachio — is named for where the recipe came from and is usually the piece people ask about afterwards.
Boxes that have to travel. Karachi lists almost always include relatives upcountry. Habshi halwa keeps around a month unrefrigerated and is the safest thing to put in a box going to Lahore, Hyderabad or abroad. Badam pak, kajoo pak and the organic sugar-free dry fruit, fig and date halwa behave the same way.
Served at mehndi and mayun. Jalebi, pheeni, malai khaja, moti pak, rus gullah and rus malai — things people eat standing up.
Quantities
Count households, not guests. One box per family, and the list includes households not attending — relatives in other cities, neighbours, and everyone your family has exchanged mithai with over the years.
Allow 1–2 kg for close family, 500 g to 1 kg for the wider circle, 250–500 g for courtesy sends, then add ten percent. Our wedding mithai guide works through this properly, including what keeps and what does not.
Lead times
Shorter than most families assume, even in the middle of wedding season.
- 24 hours for most wedding orders, habshi halwa included.
- 48 hours for orders above roughly 500 kg, or where customisation needs working through.
Karachi distribution lists have a habit of growing in the final week — an aunt remembers a household, someone’s colleagues get added. That is a phone call, not an emergency.
The part worth doing early is the thinking: which households get which box, how it should be packaged, and what needs to travel. Those decisions take longer than the production does.
