KHI Takmeel -e- Quran and Roza Kushai

Mithai for Takmeel-e-Quran and Roza Kushai in Karachi — two of the milestones families most want to mark properly. Browse the catalogue below or download it.

Two milestones, one kind of order

Takmeel-e-Quran marks a child finishing their first complete reading of the Quran — the end of years of work, usually with the qari, the madrasah and the extended family present.

Roza Kushai marks a child’s first kept fast, and falls inside Ramadan by definition. It is smaller, warmer, and almost always at iftar.

Both are firsts, both are about a child, and both involve the same thing: a gathering where mithai is served, and a distribution afterwards to everyone who could not be there. It is worth planning them as two orders rather than one.

For the gathering

Served rather than boxed, so allow roughly 100–150g per guest and favour things that hold on a table while people arrive and speeches happen.

Platters of mixed mithai work best. For a Roza Kushai at iftar, the usual iftar logic applies instead — jalebi, rus malai, rabri and rus gullah, eaten quickly after the fast breaks, with the heavier things after maghrib.

Many families also send a tray to the madrasah or to the qari who taught the child. That is worth ordering separately and properly; it is a thank-you, and it is noticed.

For the distribution

Boxes to households who were not at the gathering — relatives, neighbours, and family in other cities. Count households rather than people: one box per family.

Allow 500g to 1kg for the wider circle and 1–2kg for close family. Anything travelling out of Karachi should be halwa — habshi halwa, badam pak or kajoo pak keep around a month without refrigeration and arrive intact.

Timing

Most orders are ready in 24 hours, 48 for very large ones, so neither occasion needs planning far ahead.

The one exception is Roza Kushai, because it lands in Ramadan alongside everyone else’s iftar orders and, at the end of the month, the Eid rush. If the date is anywhere near the last ten days, tell us early. Not for capacity — for delivery slots, which are the genuinely scarce thing in that fortnight.

Printed cards naming the child and the date can be included in the boxes. Printing takes longer than the mithai, so mention it on the first call.
